**Charity sale** Very rare round spherical hens egg

On 12th August an adopted chicken called Twinksie, from Oxfordshire, laid an almost perfect spherical round egg, in what experts say is a one-in-a-billion event.

We are selling the egg on behalf of Twinksie’s owner Annabel Mulcahy, and her daughters Olivia and Emily,

Any funds raised will be donated to the British Hen Welfare Trust, a national charity that rehomes commercial laying hens (including Twinksie) and encourages support for British free-range eggs.

The egg weighs in at 62 grams and has an almost 16cm circumference.

How valuable are round eggs?

In 2015 a chicken called Ping Pong, described as the ‘Scarlet Johansson of the chicken world’, laid a round egg that sold on eBay for £480.

And in June 2017 another spherical chicken egg, sold for £102 on eBay.
