The car had been expected to sell for $1,400,000 so comfortably beat it's estimate.

The Sean Connery/James Bond link added a cool $1,400,000 to the price as a typical 1964 Aston Martin DB5 could be expected to sell for around $1,000,000.

The Aston Martin DB5 is the car most associated with 007 James Bond and first appeared on screen in the 1964 film Goldfinger, starring Connery.

The DB5 was originally purchased by Sir Sean directly from dealer RS Williams and is the only DB5 to be personally owned by Sir Sean.

The car had been consigned to Broad Arrow directly by the Connery family who will be donating a sizable portion of the auction proceeds to the Sean Connery Philanthropy Fund which makes charitable contirbutions to the three areas closest to Sir Sean's heart: education, culture, and Scotland.

The lucky winning bidder will also receive a personal drive from Sir Jackie Stewart, the ex-racing driver and lifelong friend of Sir Sean.

The most valuable Aston Martin DB5 remins the car used to promote the 1965 James Bond film Thunderball which sold for $6.4m in 2019.
