Chiswick Auctions' 14th February Autographs and Memorabillia sale features three great pieces of Rolling Stones memorabilia that are well worth a look.
First up is a rare Rolling Stones Concert poster.
The poster, designed by Kate Burness, measures 30 inches by 20 inches, and features a Welsh dragon, beneath a castle, poking its tongue out, a-la Rolling Stones hot-lips style.
Kate Burness is a New Zealand based magical/fantasy artist who was responsible for the original 1973 Rolling Stones poster.
The Cardiff poster had the addition of Cardiff Castle in the image, but the concert was ultimately cancelled due to concerns that the Rolling Stones would corrupt the youth of Wales.
As such the majority of the 1973 Cardiff Castle posters were destroyed and few remain. Those that do are considered extremely scarce, with this one being sold with a estimate of £2,000 - £3,000.
Next up is a 7 inch vinyl sleeve of the Stones' 1964 Five by Five EP which has been signed by the original five band members Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman and Brian Jones.
Given that Jones died in 1969 you can appreciate that items signed by all original band members are very rare.
The EP has an estimate of £1,000 - £1,500 but expect it to sell for more.
The third item of interest is a 9 inch x 5 inch black and white photograph signed by the band.
The signatures were obtained in person at the 1964 Morecambe Winter Gardens Rolling Stones gig, and has again been signed by all 5 original band members.
Given the photo is slightly more visually appealing than the EP the estimate is £1,200 - £1,800.
Our advice is to fill your boots. The Rolling Stones' popularity has never wained and their memorabilia is still available at a fraction of the price of The Beatles. For now.
