A traditional Ukranian ‘Vyshyvanka’ shirt worn by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as he delivered a speech on ‘Vyshyvanka Day’, on May 19th, has sold at auction for $100,000.
A Vyshyvanka shirt is worn as a national costume by Ukrainians and features local embroidery, which has been a rich tradition in Ukraine since 510 BC.
Proceeds from the sale will be donated to the United24 charity initiative launched by Zelenskyy to cover defense, demining and medical aid needs following the Russian invasion.
Fast becoming a star of the auction block one of Zelenskyy's famous khaki fleeces sold in May for £90,000 at a fundraising auction in London.
The auction was held at The Tate Modern, and hosted by Prime Minister Boris Johnson to rasise funds for humanitarian aid.
The sale comes just weeks after a baseball signed by Zelenskyy sold for $50,000, three times the original estimate, at RRAuction in the USA.

RRAuction have also confirmed that they will be donating their $15,000 commission from the sale to provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
We can confirm that the buyer of the Zelenskyy signed baseball was none other that Jim Irsay, who has had a busy few days, also buying Kurt Cobain’s fender mustang, that featured in the Smells Like Teen Spirit music video, for $4.55m at Juliens Auction in Los Angeles.
